MANILA--Rodney Brondial shone for San Miguel as the team took a crucial 3-2 lead in the PBA Philippine Cup Finals through a 96-82 win against TNT on Friday night at the Ynares Center 1 in Antipolo.

Reclaiming his starting power forward position from Mo Tautuaa turned out to be pivotal for Brondial as he responded with a solid double-double game to lead the Beermen, who completed the turnaround after a hot start by the Tropang 5G with a 30-13 third quarter.

Brondial went 6-for-8 from the field and finished with 17 points, 15 rebounds, one assist, and two blocks for SMB, which can clinch the championship on Sunday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

June Mar Fajardo and Don Trollano each added 14 points, with the former also grabbing 11 rebounds.

Calvin Oftana led TNT with 20 points, nine rebounds, one assist, and two steals.
