QUEZON CITY—RR Pogoy said on Monday that he hopes that he can be playable enough for TNT sometime later in the PBA Philippine Cup Finals.

Coach Chot Reyes earlier said that Pogoy is expected to sit out the first two games of the best-of-seven series against San Miguel owing to a hamstring injury.

The Tropang 5G got a slightly longer rest than the Beermen ahead of the championship series beginning Wednesday night after finishing the Meralco Bolts in just five games in the semifinals, as SMB needed a sixth game to eliminate Barangay Ginebra in their own playoff duel.

That meant Pogoy got two extra days to give his injured leg a much-needed rest.

"Yun yung goal namin: makahabol ako sa finals," the six-foot-two Cebuano guard said during the pre-finals press conference at the Novotel Grand Ballroom.

For now, according to Pogoy, the focus is on strengthening his hamstring to make it comfortable enough for a playing return.

"Ngayon, nagpapalakas pa ako sa hamstring ko," he further said.

Pogoy will miss Games 1 and 2 of the finals, both happening at the Ynares Center 1 in Antipolo.

The soonest time that he can come back is on Game 3, when action shifts to the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Sunday night.
