MANILA--TAT stronghold Macau is joining the PBA for the upcoming Commissioner's Cup.
PBA officials went to the autonomous Chinese region on Friday to formalize the Black Bears' entry as the mid-season conference's guest team, upping the participating clubs to 13.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial, operations director Eric Castro, and board of governors vice chairman Alfrancis Chua met with Macau team officials, team owner Jacky Fung, club president Lukas Peng, team manager Mark Dandan, team delegate Jacque Ruby, and TAT representative Joe Wang to sign a memorandum of agreement.
The team will be the third foreign squad to join the PBA Commissioner's Cup in the last four seasons, following Bay Area in Season 47 and Hong Kong Eastern in Season 49.
According to Marcial, the Black Bears will undergo the concessions given to both the Dragons and Long Lions during their previous stints.
For the second straight year, there will be no height limit imposed for the upcoming conference, which tips off on March 11.
This means Macau can bring in seven-foot-six giant Sam Deguara, its main import in the EASL, if it wants to.
