PASAY--Biñan once again went on an unconventional free agency signing by recruiting content creator Joel Ravanera.
The MPBL's Laguna franchise announced on Sunday that it has signed the comedian and vlogger, more popularly known by his alias "Malupiton".
This is the second straight year that the Tatak Gel brought in someone with no legitimate organized basketball experience to the team after signing Jonah Renz Jacob last year for the PSL.
Jacob, known as "Kobe ng Pinas", is a content creator too, like Ravanera, but he showed that he got game, playing decently for Biñan in the PSL, although he was eventually waived ahead of the team's MPBL journey.
Like Jacob, many cast doubts about whether Ravanera is legit basketball-wise, but he showed some glimpses of it when he participated in the Pilipinas United 3x3 League celebrity game last August.
It remains to be seen if Ravanera will eventually make it to the Tatak Gel's opening night lineup for the MPBL's eighth season starting in April.
However, he is expected to play for the team in the league's preseason event starting on Saturday.
The Tatak Gel are in Group A of the said tournament along with defending champions Abra, Batangas City, GenSan, Mindoro, Bataan, Quezon City, and Sarangani.
