MANILA—Before Cady Lalanne showcases his stuff for NLEX in the PBA Commissioner's Cup, he will first see action for Meralco in the EASL.
Both MVP Group teams agreed on a loan spell that would see the former KBL world import suit up for the Bolts in a must-win game against the Ryukyu Golden Kings on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Since the next conference will not start until March 11, the Road Warriors, as confirmed by team governor Ronald Dulatre, gave their blessing to lend the Haitian big man for the meantime.
Meanwhile, Meralco confirmed that it is bringing back Ismael Romero despite the controversy he faced during the Dubai International Basketball Championship.
Romero, who recently played for Al-Ahli Tripoli, kicked former PBA and MPBL player Nick Demusis during the second quarter of the heated battle against the Zamboanga Valientes, won by the former.
The Puerto Rico international was thrown out of the game and faced a lifetime ban from the tournament organizers and a police complaint by Zamboanga.
Both imports from the Caribbean region will form a towering frontline expected to match up against Ryukyu's own 1-2 punch inside of Alex Kirk and Jack Cooley.
Romero and Lalanne saw action for the Bolts in a pre-conference match-up against Phoenix Fuel Masters on Saturday at the Meralco Gym in Pasig.
Meralco needs more than a win, specifically a victory by at least six points, to qualify for the EASL Playoffs in Macau next month.
Anything other than the needed result will secure the Last 6 spot for the Golden Kings.
