MANILA—Janti Miller has officially put all speculation to rest, announcing his commitment to De La Salle University.
“Let’s do it. #Committed,” Miller said in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
Miller departs San Beda University after capturing one NCAA championship.
He becomes the third former Red Lion to transfer to La Salle after the pandemic, following Evan Nelle and Jacob Cortez.
In announcing his departure from San Beda, Miller made it clear that he has no intention of continuing his collegiate career in the NCAA.
“I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else, but I refuse to play in the NCAA league,” Miller said in a statement that drew mixed reactions from the league's community.
During Game 1 of the NCAA Season 101 Finals, Miller was assessed two technical fouls for flopping, resulting in his suspension for the championship-clinching Game 2.
After the Red Lions clinched the title, Miller hinted a UAAP move when he said the entire squad, the only founding member left in the NCAA, is eyeing to jump ship.
However, with the uncertainty of whether San Beda would be accepted immediately, Miller eventually decided to join the UAAP on his own.
An insider, though, told Dugout Philippines that a transfer was beginning to become imminent during the finals with La Salle being the frontrunner.
Speculation among fans fueled when the six-foot-guard winger was seen at the Green Archer side of the SM Mall of Asia Arena bleachers in Pasay during Game 2 of the UAAP finals against the UP Fighting Maroons.
UP was also in the mix to secure Miller's commitment fresh from the transfer portal before he eventually decided to move to La Salle instead.
Miller will be required to serve a one-year residency before becoming eligible to suit up for the Green Archers.
He is expected to play two seasons for DLSU beginning UAAP Season 90.
