MANILA—Ramil Bation delivered right at the death as University of the Philippines advanced to the UAAP men's football finals with a 1-0 win over La Salle in the semifinal nightcap on Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Bation scored the deciding free kick in the seventh minute of stoppage time in the second extension period, which found the bottom left side of the net.
It also effectively prevented a penalty shootout right when everyone was already thinking about it.
The Fighting Maroons' defense held forth as the Green Booters struggled to strike one back.
UP will face the winner of the knockout semifinal between the University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University in the knockout final on Feb. 23.
The Golden Booters, who stole Game 1 earlier Sunday, will meet the Tamaraws again on Friday night at the said venue.
