Late rally pushes Converge past Macau to open PBA Commissioner's Cup stint

MANILA—Converge weaved some magic within the last five and a half minutes to spoil Macau's PBA debut with a 102-94 win to begin their Commissioner's Cup campaign on Wednesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

With their team down by four midway through the fourth quarter, Kylor Kelley and Alec Stockton connived on a 10-0 run to begin the FiberXers' rally that gave them a 98-92 lead with 3:05 to go.

Balti Baltazar then sealed their comeback with back-to-back baskets of his own for a 102-92 cushion before Jenning Leung scored on a buzzer-beating layup as a consolation for the Black Knights.

Stockton led Converge with 18 points, three rebounds, three assists, and six steals, while Archie Concepcion added 16 points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Baltazar finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Kelley had a solid PBA debut with 12 points, 19 rebounds, two assists, and four blocks.

Mikey Williams, despite going scoreless, still delivered an impact for the team as he dished three assists, all in the fourth period.

Leung finished with 22 points, five rebounds, five assists, and one steal, while Phoenix Shackleford added 20 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals for Macau.

Tony Mitchell had 18 points, 10 rebounds, and one steal in his PBA comeback.
