QUEZON CITY--Team Liquid Philippines stood tall as the only unbeaten team left in MPL Philippines ahead of the Holy Week break after defeating AP Bren, 2-1, on Sunday night at the Victoria Sports Tower.
In the battle between the defending champion and the new surprise package, Liquid PH needed a reverse sweep to turn back an AP Bren side that looks poised to make a playoff comeback after spending last year in rebuilding mode.
For the second straight night, Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno brought back Harley to his fold in Game 1, but this time, James "Jamespangks" Mendoza's Suyou was almost unbreakable to put AP Bren ahead, going 17-1-5.
Mendoza was also impressive as Harley in Game 2, but Liquid PH's solid macro gaming, which bore fruit by winning a 3-0 clash kill count during the second Lord fight, sent the best-of-three series to a rubber match.
Liquid PH sealed the comeback after pummeling AP Bren in the early game en route to the 12-minute finish.
Liquid PH moved up to 4-0, while AP Bren, which was on bye week during Week 2, fell to 2-1.

Aurora PH struck first behind a perfect game from Jonard "Demonkite" Caranto and Kenneth "Yue" Tadeo as the club once again banked on its patented aggressive early game.
In Game 2, though, it was Falcons PH's turn to quickly step on the gas, going 18-4 on kills behind splendid performances from Salic "Hadji" Imam and Michael "Kyle" Sayson to force Game 3.
Aurora PH, despite getting punished in the early game, still managed to prolong the decider, but Falcons PH, after securing the evolved Lord, completed the final push after 22:22 of action to seal the win.
Falcons PH moved up to 2-1, although with an inferior net game difference against AP Bren, while Aurora PH dropped to 2-2.
Action will resume on April 10.
