PBA: Titan Ultra stuns SMB for 1st win in Rensy Bajar era

QUEZON CITY—Titan Ultra scored a giant slaying for its first win with Rensy Bajar as head coach, upsetting San Miguel, 119-112, in their PBA Commissioner's Cup game on Saturday night at the Ynares Center 1 in Antipolo.

The Giant Risers staggered the Beermen in the third quarter, dropping 41 points to open a 93-75 lead entering the fourth.

However, SMB crawled back in the final period and came to within four, 112-116, with 58 seconds to go.

It turned out to be the team's last gasp as free throws from Joshua Munzon and Fran Yu sealed the victory for Titan Ultra.

Munzon led the Giant Risers, who moved up to 1-2, with 29 points on 10-of-19 shooting, three rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

Michael Gilmore added 28 points, 13 rebounds, one assist, one block, and three steals.

CJ Perez fired 27 points, all in the second half, three rebounds, seven assists, and two steals to lead the Beermen, who are back in action after ruling the Philippine Cup last month.

Don Trollano added 21 points, one rebound, three assists, and one block, while June Mar Fajardo added 15 points, 17 rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal.

Marcus Lee struggled in his PBA debut, only scoring four points, although he chipped in five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
