TAGUIG CITY -- The Philippine Women's National Football Team suffered another defeat and is now on the brink of an early exit, this time at the hands of the Korea Republic, after they bowed 3-0 in the ongoing 2026 Women's Asian Cup at Gold Coast Stadium, Thursday morning (Philippine time).

The Filipinas' defensive momentum sparked in their opening match vs. Australia was thrown into disarray after they conceded two goals in the first 15 minutes of the game. Jeon Yu-Gyeong completed her turn, successfully penetrated the Filipinas' defense, and landed her left-foot shot, which converted in favor of the Taeguk Ladies to open the floodgates in the 12th minute, 1-0.

Soon after, Park Soo-Jeong spotted the unattended defense of the 2025 SEA Games Gold Medalists to bury her right-foot attempt from outside the box to double their lead, three minutes after her teammate's opening goal, 2-0. One minute before the first half ended, Carleigh Frilles offered a glimmer of hope for the Philippines to cut the deficit with a left-footed shot from outside the box, but it was easily caught by Kim Min-Jung.

Eleven minutes from the start of the second half, the 2022 Women's Asian Cup finalists scored their third and seal-the-deal goal through Mun Eun-Ju, with her right-footed shot from very close range following a corner conceded by Olivia McDaniel.

The Filipinas will move on to their must-win last Group A match vs. Iran on Sunday afternoon. It is an uphill task ahead, as they need a win with at least a four-goal margin to erase their current -4 goal differential and keep their hopes alive for a Best 3rd Placer finish.
