QUEZON CITY--Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno and Sanford Vinuya turned back time as they led Team Liquid Philippines' 2-1 reverse sweep against Team Falcons Philippines in the latest chapter of the MPL Philippines "Clasico" on Saturday at the Victoria Sports Tower.
After Falcons PH took Game 1 behind an impressive all-around game from Michael "Kyle" Sayson, Nepomuceno drafted Harley, which he last used five years ago when he was still with AP Bren, in Game 2, and he went 7-0-5 to help Liquid PH force Game 3.
Vinuya, drafting last in Game 3, pulled off a stunner of his own when he picked Benedetta, a hero he has been using since childhood.
The surprise pick worked as he went 10-0-6 at the start of the decider, and although he was eventually neutralized, Falcons PH's late efforts fell short as Dave "Teddy" Viana waxed hot in the end to seal the win.
Liquid PH, despite still reeling from its recent decision to let go of supposed import Sultan "AeronnShikii" Muhammad, is now on top of the standings at 3-0.
Falcons PH, on the other hand, fell to a tie with Aurora Gaming Philippines, which will play Twisted Minds Philippines later Saturday, in third place at 1-1.
