MANILA--Kaya Iloilo snapped a four-match winless run to keep its PFL title defense alive through a 4-0 shutout against Army on Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Mike Ott opened the scoring for Kaya Iloilo with a putback off his first attempt that hit the goal post in the 19th minute.

He then set up Audie Menzi's 43rd-minute goal by finding him inside the box off a corner kick, and Menzi responded by heading the ball into the goal.

Martini Rey then hit Kaya Iloilo's third goal just before halftime when he took advantage of a goalkeeping error from Carl Viray and rolled the ball into the wide-open goalmouth.

Rey then assisted on Shuto Komaki's exclamation point in the 65th minute, which was the only goal scored in the second half.

After two tough losses and two draws, Kaya Iloilo finally got all three points to move up to 38, seven behind league-leading One Taguig.

One Taguig has two matches at hand, but Kaya Iloilo has a relatively lighter schedule left, as it only has Aguilas-UMak and Valenzuela Mendiola remaining in its second round fixtures.

One Taguig, on the other hand, has Dynamic Herb Cebu next on Saturday night at the latter's home turf, the Dynamic Herb Borromeo Sports Complex in Talisay City, and also has Aguilas-UMak, Stallion Laguna, and Manila Digger left.

This means Kaya Iloilo still has a chance to catch up with One Taguig in the standings ahead of the championship round in May.
