MANILA—Meralco overcame a gallant fight from Macau to score a 115-110 win in their PBA Commissioner's Cup battle on Saturday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Finding themselves down, 107-109, with 3:56 left, the Bolts ended the game on an 8-1 run, which was sparked by back-to-back baskets from CJ Cansino and capped with dagger deuces from Marvin Jones and Jansen Rios.
Jones finished with 32 points on 13-of-23 field goals, 14 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and one steal, while Cansino added 23 points on 10-of-19 shooting, seven rebounds, one assist, two steals, and two blocks.
Phoenix Shackelford fired 29 points on 10-of-16 field goals, including 4-of-5 from three-point range, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals for Macau, which remained winless at 0-6.
Jenning Leung added 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals, while Ramon Cao chipped in 20 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.
Tony Mitchell contributed 16 points on a perfect 4-for-4 clip on inside baskets, 14 rebounds, and two blocks, and Damian Chongqui put up 13 points, two rebounds, and 13 assists.
