SAN JUAN, MM--Team Falcons Philippines put an end to Smart Omega's Cinderella run in MPL Philippines Season 17 with a 3-1 win in their lower bracket semifinals on Friday night at the FilOil Centre.
Falcons PH clinched a place in lower bracket finals after overcoming an onslaught from Smart Omega in Game 4.
Led by Dean "Raizen" Sumagui, Smart Omega dominated the early game in Game 4 and was on track of forcing a rubber match in the best-of-five series.
However, during the team fight for the second Lord, "Super Marco" Requitiano successfully got out of James "Jeymz" Gloria's range before the latter activated his Alice's Throne of Ruin, and Requitiano and Salic "Hadji" Imam spearheaded a 4-for-2 clash win that essentially turned things around for Falcons PH.
Falcons PH completed the comeback by securing the third Lord and finishing Game 4 with an endable push.
Falcons PH will play Onic Philippines on Saturday night for the last spot in Sunday night's grand finals after upper bracket winner Team Liquid Philippines.
The winner of the lower bracket finals will also join Liquid PH in the Mobile Legends Bang Bang Midseason Cup.
On the other hand, despite the fourth-place exit, Smart Omega still had a season to remember as the club reached the playoffs despite a heavy rebuild during the offseason.
