MANILA—Meralco took advantage of the sudden absence of Bol Bol the rest of the way and flattened TNT, 87-76, in Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup semifinals on Friday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
The Bolts gradually turned things around in the last three quarters, right after Bol was carried out of the venue after suffering a suspected Achilles tendon injury late in the first period, turning to their defense to overpower a demoralized Tropang 5G side.
Chris Newsome led Meralco, which knotted its own best-of-seven tie with TNT at 1-1, with 24 points on 9-for-15 shooting from the field, four rebounds, and three assists.
Marvin Jones and Javee Mocon each put up 16 points, with the import adding 13 rebounds, while Cliff Hodge contributed 12 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal.
RR Pogoy carried the fight for the Tropang 5G with 27 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block.
Calvin Oftana added 22 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
