QUEZON CITY—Meralco is turning to an old pal for its PBA Governors' Cup drive.
The team announced on Monday that it is bringing Jordon Varnado as the foreign reinforcement for the season-ending conference starting July 10.
Varnado was one of the Bolts' imports during last year's Basketball Champions League Asia campaign, in which the lone PBA representative made the quarterfinals.
Varnado led Meralco in scoring with 19.7 points per game alongside averages of 10.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per night.
Varnado is listed at six-feet-seven, but he is expected to make the six-foot-six height limit for the PBA Governors' Cup, which will once again see 13 teams in it, as Macau continues its participation as a guest team.
The upcoming conference could go down as the longest ever, as it will run through five months with Gilas windows scheduled for the Asian Games and the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
