QUEZON CITY—TNT escaped a last gasp from Ginebra for a 101-94 win in Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals in front of 11,510 fans at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday night.
In an exact opposite to Game 1, it was the Tropang 5G's turn to blow a huge lead as they nearly squandered a 22-point lead following a fourth-quarter storm from the Gin Kings.
Capped by a Justin Brownlee layup, Ginebra came to within four, 94-98, with 58 seconds left, but the team lost steam in the end as Calvin Oftana and Chris McCullough virtually iced the game with free throws down the stretch.
Oftana led TNT, which tied the best-of-seven series at one game apiece, with a season-high 31 points on 11 of 18 shooting including 5-for-10 from three-point range, 10 rebounds, and one assist.
McCullough added 19 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and two steals.
Justin Brownlee led Ginebra with 24 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks, while RJ Abarrientos added 21 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
