MAKATI—The ban slapped on Bacolod may not finish the story just yet.
Dugout Philippines got word from MPBL insiders that some other teams are being monitored right now near the tail end of the regular season, as their competitiveness is also being questioned.
According to people knowledgeable of the situation, the said clubs also had some intriguing losses lately, prompting the league to take a closer look at their gameplay.
The development came amid a revelation from Quezon City Third District representative Franz Pumaren that some more MPBL squads are also allegedly involved in game-fixing activities.
Speaking to Zeus Valdez in Abante News Online's Sports Now on Thursday night, the former PBA player and champion UAAP coach said that he is ready to reveal the teams he and his staff are monitoring anytime soon.
Meanwhile, another source claimed to Dugout Philippines that a coaching staff of a playoff team from last year suspected a game-fixing scheme was happening when they were suddenly relieved from their positions despite being in the middle of a winning streak.
Interestingly enough, the said club is also in the thick of things in the playoff race this season.
The Masskara were the second team removed during the regular season after the Iloilo United Royals, whose franchise was revoked following several violations, including game-fixing allegations.
