MANILA—Blackwater held on against Magnolia for an 89-81 win in their PBA Governors' Cup clash on Friday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Nearly a week after dropping a franchise-high 131 points on the Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters, the Bossing turned to their defense, holding the Hotshots scoreless in the last four minutes before ending the game on a 10-0 run.
Kentrell Barkley led Blackwater, now 2-0 in the standings, with 26 points, 11 rebounds, one assist, and three blocks.
RK Ilagan added 20 points, one rebound, and one steal.
KJ Buffen bounced back from a poor outing against Phoenix and led Magnolia with 32 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and two steals, but it was not enough to keep his team from dropping to 0-2.
Ian Sangalang had 10 points on 5 of 5 field goals and three rebounds, but on a night when he was formally welcomed to the 5,000 Points Club, he committed five turnovers.
