MANILA—Kobey Lam made the huge difference for Macau in just one play as the team edged Terrafirma, 96-92, in their PBA Governors' Cup battle on Wednesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Off a steal from Jenning Leung, Lam sparked a fastbreak play and hit the go-ahead and-one opportunity off a Brent Paraiso foul with 10.2 seconds left to break a 92-all tie.
Leung missed the bonus free throw, but he got his own offensive rebound before passing it to Damian Chongqui, who milked some time before Juami Tiongson reached him for the foul with 4.1 seconds left.
Chongqui hit 2-for-2 from the line to up the Giant Pandas' lead to four.
Tiongson tried to keep the Dyip in the game, but he airballed a four-point attempt that sealed their fate.
De'Vondre Perry led Macau, which tied its victim at 2-4 through back-to-back wins, with 34 points on 13 of 26 field goals, 14 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Chongqui added 29 points on 10-for-15 shooting on two-pointers, one rebound, three assists, and three steals.
Justin Strings also tallied 34 points, going 16 of 26 from the field, with eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals for Terrafirma, but he too had five turnovers.
Maverick Ahanmisi flirted with a triple-double after tallying 20 points on 9-for-14 shooting, nine rebounds, and eight assists with one block.
Geo Chiu saw his block party, wherein he rejected six shots alongside six points, 12 rebounds, and one assist, spoiled by the loss.
