PBA: ROS scores 1st win at Gian Mamuyac, Phoenix's expense

MANILA—It took a nipping against its former captain for Rain Or Shine to notch its first win in the PBA Governors' Cup, edging Phoenix, 105-98, on Tuesday night at the Ynares Center 1 in Antipolo.

The Elasto Painters needed to hang on, though, as the Fuel Masters threatened to come back from a late double-digit advantage.

ROS stared at a 99-84 lead with 4:12 remaining when Phoenix launched a 14-3 run that drew the team to within one possession, 98-102, with 1:34 left.

However, it turned out to be the Fuel Masters' last hurrah as the Elasto Painters held them scoreless the rest of the way.

Aaron Fuller led ROS, which moved up to 1-2, with 28 points on 11 of 16 shooting, 16 rebounds, two assists, and one block.

Adrian Nocum added 18 points on 8-for-15 field goals, six rebounds, eight assists, and two blocks.

BJ Johnson had 27 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and two steals to lead Phoenix, which lost for the first time this conference after a 3-0 start.

Gian Mamuyac had eight points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal in his first game against his former team.
