MANILA—Terrafirma found its stroke from the outside right in the final two and a half minutes to score a huge 111-106 upset against TNT in the PBA Governors' Cup on Saturday night at the Ynares Center 1 in Antipolo.
Down 98-104 midway into the overtime period, the Dyip hit four straight three-pointers, two from Juami Tiongson, one from Joseph Eriobu off Tiongson's assist, and the last one from Maverick Ahanmisi off Eriobu's feed to put them up, 110-106, with 35.3 seconds left.
The Tropang 5G tried to pull off a 2-for-1, but JM Bravo blocked Darius Day's layup, and Tiongson virtually iced the game with the lone non-three-pointer in the Dyip's game-ending 13-2 run, a split from the line with 16 seconds left.
Rey Nambatac tried to keep TNT in the game, but he missed his four-pointer, and Bravo secured the game-ending rebound.
Justin Strings led Terrafirma, which snapped a three-game losing streak to go up to 2-3, with 36 points on 16 of 25 shooting, 12 rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block.
Tiongson added 24 points on 9 of 16 shooting, including 5-for-7 on threes, two assists, and one steal, while Ahanmisi chipped in 20 points, five rebounds, six assists, one steal, and one block.
Jordan Heading carried the fight for TNT, which dropped to 1-2, with 29 points on 11 of 22 field goals, nine rebounds, four assists, and one steal off the bench.
RR Pogoy added 23 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in a game where Days was held to just 10 points on 3-for-11 shooting, all in the second half and overtime, five rebounds, and one assist.
