MANILA --- Angie Beard, making a positional switch from defender to forward, will headline the Philippine Women's National Football Team's 26-woman roster for the Asian Games campaign against Uzbekistan, Hong Kong, and China starting September 14 to October 2 as the Philippine Football Federation unveiled the lineup reveal last Wednesday.
Angie Beard, who scored crucial goal during Women's Asian Cup playoff match vs. Uzbekistan, will be with Mallie Ramirez, Alex Carpio, youngster Natalie Collins and Dionesa Tolentin in a tactical boost in attacking department by head tactician Mark Torcaso.
The two-time Women's World Cup contenders will try to better their last Quarterfinal finish during their 2023 Asiad campaign only being succumbed to now-host Japan, 8-1 with only Sarina Bolden who scored for the Philippines.
The veteran presence of Sara Eggesvik, Chandler McDaniel, Anicka Castañeda, Jessica Cowart, Malea Cesar, Paige McSwigan, Janae DeFazio, and Jael Marie Guy who featured involved in the making of 2nd World Cup qualification in their campaign for 2026 Women's Asian Cup held in Australia is not included due to club commitments or nursing their respective injuries.
The mainstays Olivia McDaniel and Nina Meollo will compose the Goalkeeping position with the newcomer Gaby Rourke.
While the centennial capper Hali Long, Reina Bonta, Kaya Hawkinson, Sofia Wunsch, Azumi Oka and Jourdyn Curran will cover the Defender position with the debutant Aiselyn Sia.
Finally, the Filipinas' midfielders will compose of mix of veterans and youngsters which includes Jaclyn Sawicki, Carleigh Frilles, Isabella Pasion, Katrina Guillou, Megan Murray with neophytes Tea Pidding, Camryn Penn, and Skye Leach.
