BIÑAN—NLEX banked on a solid fourth quarter to preserve a hot start and nip Converge 119-107 in their PBA Governors' Cup match on Saturday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
The Road Warriors nearly blew a 42-point explosion in the first quarter as the FiberXers bounced back in the second quarter to even take a 64-63 halftime lead and keep the game close.
However, NLEX restored order in the fourth quarter after outscoring Converge, 31-19.
DeQuan Jones led the Road Warriors, who remained undefeated at 5-0, with 28 points, nine rebounds, and one block.
Schonny Winston added 24 points on 10-for-20 shooting, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals, while Robert Bolick came close to a triple-double with 19 points on 7-for-13 field goals, 10 assists, and nine rebounds with one steal.
Jamaal Franklin had 26 points to lead the FiberXers alongside seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals, but he went 2-for-11 from deep as they lost three straight game to end the first round of the group stages after a 3-0 start in Group A.
Known for having a solid bench led by Calvin Abueva and Archie Concepcion, Converge only had eight players, including Abueva.
