MAKATI—Team Rest of the World sustained its late Day 1 blitz with a brilliant display in Day 2 of the Reyes Cup to open a 6-3 lead against Team Asia at the Makati Coliseum.

Team Rest of the World won the first three matches in the Friday night schedule by identical 5-3 scorelines, the day-opening 5-on-5 affair, Joshua Filler's singles victory against Robbie Capito, and the duo of Fedor Gorst and Aleksa Pecelj's doubles squeaker against the tandem of AJ Manas and Duong Quoc Hoang.

The doubles match was decided by Manas' botched moment when he scratched the cue ball despite scoring a golden break, giving Gorst and Pecelj a chance to close out their match in Game 8 instead of playing a hill-hill rack.

Carlo Biado avoided a shutout by beating Shane Van Boening in another singles match 5-3, but Filler and Francisco Sanchez Ruiz bounced back with a 5-4 win against Capito and Albert Januarta in the final match for Day 2 that spilled past midnight of Saturday.

The match also took a twist of fate when Januarta misplaced the cue ball behind the nine-ball after slotting in the four-ball, forcing Capito to go for a jump cue in hopes of pocketing the five-ball.

Capito missed the jump cue, putting Filler and Sanchez Ruiz back to the table to clear the remaining ball up.

Since dropping the first two matches of the four-night affair, Team Rest of the World now won six of the next seven as the pressure is now on the home team to bounce back in the Saturday games.
