SAN JUAN, MM--Adamson's juniors team avenged their seniors team's loss to Ateneo through an 82-73 victory in the last game of a five-match FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup schedule at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Friday night.
The Baby Falcons, who barely missed the UAAP Final Four last season, surprised the Blue Eaglets still reeling from the loss of Jolo Mendoza and Gian Mamuyac early on by erecting a nine-point lead in the first stages of the second period.
Ateneo swung back and even took the lead, but Adamson ended the quarter on a strong showing to retake the advantage, 37-32, at halftime.
The Baby Falcons would pull away from the Blue Eaglets in the second half and withstood one final push from them that came a little too late.
Jose Antiporda made 14 points, two rebounds, and one assist, while Jason Umayao provided a defensive anchor for Adamson with ten rebounds and three steals.
SJ Belangel finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal for Ateneo, whose loss spoiled what could have been a good day for their fellow Blue Eaglets also notched wins in another tournament that took place earlier Friday aside from their senior team's win in the FilOil game preceding theirs.
