Arellano bucked off the absence of their star point guard and clipped UP, 75-61, in their FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup tiff at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Friday.
With the Gilas Cadet currently in Bangkok for the SEABA Stankovic Cup, Donald Gumaru and Kent Salado led the way for the Chiefs, giving out eight of their 18 total assists while also top scoring with a combined 23 points.
Eli Ongolo showcased his defensive prowess, blocking four Fighting Maroons shots out of nine in total.
Dave Moralde had 15 points for UP, which lost back-to-back games following back-to-back wins.
Arellano moved back to the top of Group A with a 5-1 record following Perpetual Help's defeat to San Sebastian earlier Friday.
