MANILA--Manny Pacquiao has to decide quickly if he wants to give Olympic boxing a try.
As per renowned sports commentator Ronnie Nathanielsz, who posted an article in BoxingScene.com early Saturday, the deadline for registration for the AIBA Open Olympic Qualifier in Baku has been set on May 27, effectively giving the newly-proclaimed senator only a week to declare his intent for the said tournament that will begin on June 7.
Since pro boxers were re-allowed to join the Olympic boxing qualifiers and the main tournament, clamors have surfaced on whether the former eight-division world champ will try to add an Olympic gold medal to his nine belts.
However, Pacquiao said after his match on April 10 against Tim Bradley that he will hang up his gloves for good to concentrate on his legislative duties.

Pacquiao's boxing career, along with another sporting duty as coach of basketball club Mahindra, were some factors that kept him, the incumbent congressman of Sarangani, from going to the Congress more often, only attending four sessions overall. The said attendance record drew flak from many concerned Filipinos.
