SAN JUAN, MM--La Salle may have just proved that they are the team to beat in the upcoming UAAP season after clobbering reigning league champs FEU, 91-71, in the last quarterfinal of the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Tuesday night.
Ben Mbala and Jeron Teng combined for 60 points as the Green Archers began tearing the Tamaraws late in the first quarter and never looked back. The Tams could only go to as close as seven.
La Salle was solid all throughout the game, making 52 percent of their shots with a 62 percent clip from inside the three-point line and 81 percent of their free throws while forcing FEU to 33 turnovers.
Raymar Jose led the Tamaraws with 13 points.
The Green Archers will face the Ateneo, who won in the first quarterfinal earlier Tuesday, in the semifinals on Friday.
