SAN JUAN, MM--Perpetual Help ended their FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup elimination round campaign by crushing CSB, 59-41, at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Friday night.
The Altas, who already clinched a quarterfinal spot last week, snapped a two-game skid following a 4-0 start by limiting the Blazers to the all-time tournament low in scoring, finishing the game on a 17-7 fourth quarter.
Bright Akhuetie, fresh from helping Mighty Sports nab the PCBL championship last week, led Perpetual Help with 19 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, and one block.
No CSB player finished in double figures with JJ Domingo being the top scorer with nine markers.
Currently, the Altas are at third place at 5-2, a half game behind the Arellano Chiefs and the NU Bulldogs, who are both at 5-1, but the Altas are assured of securing the second seed in the quarterfinals as they own the tiebreaker over the Chiefs and the Bulldogs. The Chiefs and the Bulldogs will clash on Sunday for the top seed in Group A with the loser slipping to third.
