PASIG--Cafe France-CEU ended AMA's late run for the PBA D-League Foundation Cup semifinals with an 86-70 rout on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena.
The win basically sent the Bakers, the Phoenix Accelerators, and the Tanduay Rhum Masters to the knockout stages. The Rhum Masters and the Racal Tile Masters, who clinched the first semis spot on Tuesday night, are slugging it out as of posting.
AMA appeared to be toward a huge upset that could have kept its flickering playoff hopes alive with a 64-59 lead with 6:12 left in the game.
But back-to-back triples from JK Casiño spearheaded Cafe France's game-turning 19-3 run that turned the potential shocker to a rout.
Casiño actually scored 14 of his 20 points in that crucial rally to help Rod Ebondo, who led the Bakers with 25 markers, and Carl Cruz, who had 21.
Rashawn McCarthy dropped 28 markers for the Titans, who also saw their winning run snapped at two.
