MANILA--As the UFC makes a return trip to the Philippines on Oct. 15, one of its prime stars may stage a comeback as well.

Ariel Helwani of SB Nation reported on Saturday (Philippine Time) that BJ Penn could be headlining UFC Fight Night Philippines 2 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay as he is set to face Richard Lamas in what would be his first MMA fight since 2014.

The said MMA comeback is actually somewhat overdue as Penn will only be cleared for action after a six-month suspension for excessive IV infusion on Sept. 25, just in time for UFC's second staging in the Philippines.

Penn's last fight ended up in a loss to Frankie Edgar, who coincidentally won the main event of UFC's first Philippine event at the said hall on May 17, 2015.

Lamas, on the other hand, is no fluke as he is currently ranked fourth among the featherweights despite losing to Max Holloway at UFC 199

Penn was actually scheduled to fight in the said pay-per-view card as well but was called off after he revealed the said IV infraction.

UFC will officially announce the full UFC Fight Night Philippines 2 fight card at a later date.
