MANILA--The NU Pep Squad guns for a fourth consecutive UAAP Cheerdance Competition title as the team takes on six more cheerleading groups in the annual showcase at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Saturday.
What makes the cheerdance clash interesting, however, is the absence of the UP Pep Squad that leaves the door wide open for the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, which shares honors with UP Pep as the winningest teams in the competition and finished second last year, for a shot at an unprecedented ninth cheerdance gold.
The UP Pep Squad decided to skip this year's edition, stemming from failed inquiries seeking clarification about the controversial results of last year's competition, in which the squad only finishing third despite an apparently flawless production and NU Pep grabbing all the marbles despite crucial falls.
The FEU Cheering Squad also looks to go back to the podium even as the De La Salle Animo Squad, the Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion, the UE Pep Squad, and the Adamson Pep Squad also eye for a better ranking from last year.
The Animo Squad goes first followed by Salinggawi, Blue Babble, FEU Cheering Squad, and the respective pep squads of Adamson, UE, and NU.
