Berkeley dominates SBP Luzon final; ISBB survives hard-fought Passerelle title match

By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA--Berkeley wasted no time in trumping Wonderland en route to its fourth consecutive SBP Luzon regional title.

The Baguio squad banked on its home city advantage and mauled the Dagupan side, 69-36, in the championship match at the Easter College Gym.

In the battle for third, on the other hand, Sacred Heart College of Lucena downed the St. Scholastica Academy of San Fernando, Pampanga, 56-50.

St. Scholastica, however, did not go home with nothing as the team cropped the sportsmanship award.

Meanwhile, ISBB needed a late push before subduing St. Louis, 67-64, in the Passerelle regional final.

The Lucena-based quintet stopped the Baguio side from completing a double for the host city by rallying in the fourth quarter and averted one gallant stand from its opponent in the end.

ISBB also took home the sportsmanship award.

In the third place battle, Holy Angel nosed Urdaneta City National High School, 50-47.

Berkeley joins La Salle Greenhills and Xavier University of Cagayan De Oro in the SBP national finals, while ISBB joins Adamson and Holy Child of Davao in the Passerelle national finals.

The last two spots to the SBP-Passerelle national finals in Bacolod will be decided in the Visayas regional finals in Roxas City this weekend.
