MANILA—Paul Lee has finally embraced being a Star Hotshot.
The six-foot combo guard flashed his vintage self this past week.
Lee dropped 20 points on his former coach Yeng Guiao and his new team, NLEX, on Wednesday night, while his hot first half on Saturday night helped the Purefoods franchise open a league season-high 53-point lead against Phoenix before settling for the 44-point winning margin, also a league season-high.
For Lee, however, it is all about trusting Coach Chito Victolero and giving way to his teammates especially when they wax hot too.
"Sumusunod lang ako sa system [ni Coach Chito]. Di ko pinupwersa yung game. Start ng game [against Phoenix], si PJ [Simon] mainit. Sabi ko sa sarili ko, 'Sige lang. Huwag mong sabayan.' Nakahanap lang ako ng butas. Maganda naman yung bitaw. Ayun, tuluy-tuloy na," said Lee, who was named the Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week on Monday.
Lee edged three of his fellow Hotshots, Jio Jalalon, Mark Barroca, and Allein Maliksi, for the said weekly citation.
