MANILA--Both tied at the seventh seed at the moment, two hungry teams face each other this Wednesday at the Big Dome.

With the two teams garnering momentum back after a 0-3 start in the tournament, it seemed that the Hotshots and the Aces are both moving up.

However, both squads lost their previous duties.

Star was downed by Barangay Ginebra, 79-86, in their Christmas match-up while Alaska was defeated by the TNT KaTropa, 109-100, two days earlier.

They are both expecting the 2017 to come with a bang and earn a required victory.

The Hotshots and the Aces both had long vacations, having a break of more than two weeks.

Early Rookie of the Year favorite Jio Jalalon also wants a win, promising to give a good fight for Star this Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the opposing team's head coach, Alex Compton, is also wary of the deadly Hotshots saying that his team 'needs to be at absolutely best' to beat them.

“The feeling is like the preseason again, but it’s not,” he said on Tuesday after their team practice. “I hope we’re sharp because there’s only five games left.”

They test each other out at 7 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City in a crucial outing.

Meralco (2-5) takes on Mahindra (1-5) in the first game at 4:15 p.m.
