MANILA--Sonny Thoss showed vintage brilliance this past week.
The 35-year-old, six-foot-seven slotman proved to be a good help to Cory Jefferson inside the paint, especially in the defensive side when he contained James White in the end for Alaska to preserve a 98-92 win over Mahindra on Wednesday night.

He then provided some key offensive production four night later against Rain Or Shine, making 15 points and two assists in the down-the-wire victory.

“I just tried to give whatever I can to the team,” said Thoss, whose impressive performances earned him the Accel-PBA Press Corps Player of the Week award as announced on Monday.
Thoss edged fellow Ace Calvin Abueva, rookies RR Pogoy and Jio Jalalon, and veterans Allein Maliksi, Junemar Fajardo, Alex Cabagnot, and Baser Amer for the said plum.
