Antiquiera on 2Q shooting spree: "Tira lang ng tira"

Trixie Antiqiuera's thoughts after taking over the second quarter only was only summed up in three words.

PASAY -- NU gunner Trixie Antiquiera did not expect to have a pair of flaming hands Wednesday noon against UST.

That is after she got her career game en route for the Lady Bulldogs' 51st consecutive win, torching the MOA nets with game high 27 points, 18 of them came in the second quarter alone.

At a loss for words, she only had one thing to say after her explosion: just keep shooting.

"Lahat ng ginawa ko sa training, tira lang ng tira," the diminutive guard told Dugout Philippines after their 95-65 rout over the erstwhile unbeaten Tigresses.

But for her mentor Patrick Aquino, he had seen the shooting spree from the other side of the basketball world.

"I was just watching Klay Thompson's 37-point third quarter explosion in the dugout. I was like saying wow, the same thing happened here today," the Perlas mentor said after being shocked in awe on her hot shooting, added to the fact that the Bacolod native did not shoot even a single free throw the entire game.

"She got open and good thing she hits those shots and good thing for us, they opened up the bigs for us," Aquino added after they came to a shade of 40% from downtown, therefore easing the pressure from their twin towers of Jack Danielle Animam and Rhena Itesi.
