TAGUIG -- Jimmy Alapag was ecstatic on his head coaching debut with the supercharged Alab Pilipinas, as he is ready to face the challenge of the new ABL season.

And was not an ordinary challenge for him and his team, as they will open the season against last year's finalists, beginning with the defending champion Hong Kong Eastern at home.

"We have our hands full, especially there are a lot of tough teams out there. We start the season with Hong Kong and Singapore right off the gate. It's something that we are looking forward to, it's gonna give us a barometer of what we are early in the season," Alapag said during the season launch as his focus are set in the November 19 home opener at the Mall of Asia Arena.

He was all praises with the new recruits that they have in a massive overhaul of the team where they only retained reigning Local MVP Bobby Ray Parks, Robby Celiz and Lawrence Domingo in the roster.

For him, MOA had special memories with him, especially all Pinoy sports fans remembered his exploits four years ago and is looking forward to coach there.

"To have an opportunity to have our first game at home, and for myself as a coach, I'm excited for our guys," he said.

"We're expecting a good crowd, and we've got the defending champions. So we have a lot to prepare and to get ready," Alapag concluded.
