Negros mauls Laguna for biggest win of PFL '18

By Ivan Saldajeno

BINAN--Ceres Negros posted the largest win of the second season of the PFL with a 6-2 rout of Stallion Laguna at the Binan Football Stadium on Wednesday night.

Four nights after coming back in the second half to beat Laguna, Negros quickly turned the match into a one-sided affair right from the get-go as the club came close to matching the league's single-game record for goals scored that the squad itself set last year.

Patrick Reichelt drew first blood in the eighth minute, while OJ Porteria added another goal for Negros two minutes later as the team quickly went 2-0 up in just 10 minutes.

After the offense somehow slowed down in the rest of the first half, Mike Ott opened the floodgates anew for Negros with a 53rd minute header as Stephan Schrock, who was being chased by Pepito Hayeson, found Ott on a short cross for the 3-0 count.

A defensive lapse then led to Laguna giving up an own goal in the 58th minute to make it 4-0 for Negros.

Kevin Ingreso struck one for Negros in the 64th minute, while Porteria capped the scoring for the club with a 71st minute strike.

Abou Sy prevented the shutout for Laguna as he headed in a 73rd minute goal, while Fitch Arboleda made one more in the 77th for the final count.

Negros scored its third straight win to move up to 24 points.

Laguna, which lost back-to-back games after winning three of its last four, remained stuck at nine points, opening a possibility for Marikina, which will face Negros on Saturday at the said venue, to move up to fourth place.
