MANILA--In a game full of surprising events, Ceres Negros and Stallion Laguna settled for the splitting of the spoils with a 2-2 draw in the nightcap of the Philippines Football League opening day festivities at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
Abou Sy shook up the good-sized crowd when he fired a sixth minute goal to put Laguna on the scoreboard first.
Martin Steuble pulled off an even bigger shocker as he struck a 25th minute goal from a tough angle at the right wing.
However, a bizarre own goal came in the 28th minute when Carlie De Murga gave a blatantly bad pass to keeper Roland Muller, and the ball went just past the goal line to put Laguna back up, 2-1.
Bienve Maranon forced the deadlock again when he headed the ball in at the 53-minute mark.
The result leaves Kaya Iloilo, 4-0 winner over Green Archers United in the first game, solely on top of the table momentarily.
