MANILA—Laguna and Cotabato are in a tight race for the overall championship in the Batang Pinoy National Finals after the second day of competitions in Puerto Princesa.
As of 6 p.m. on Tuesday, both Laguna and Cotabato each have 10 golds won out of a total of 111 that were given away since Day 1.
Laguna is ahead due to silvers as the province already won 11 compared to Cotabato's two.
Laguna also won six bronze medals, while Cotabato has one.
Pasig is not far behind as it tallied nine golds, 12 silvers, and six bronzes for third place overall.
Davao City now has seven golds, four silvers, and eight bronzes for fourth place, while Manila, thanks to Karl Yulo's five-gold haul in gymnastics at the Puerto Princesa City Coliseum, jumped to fifth place with seven golds, four silvers, and one bronze.
The host city now has three golds, four silvers, and two bronzes, good for 14th place.
Defending overall champ Baguio, on the other hand, still find the golds elusive, only winning one so far with two silvers and three bronzes, good for 25th place.
