MANILA--With the Philippine NBA 2K team already clinching the Southeast Asian Conference title of the FIBA Esports Open with a Game 3 rout over Indonesia on Saturday night, the club could have opted to just chill out in Game 4.
However, for Philippe Herrero, it was never the plan.
"We're planning on winning the five-game series. It's not yet over. We're not being complacent," Herrero, the team captain, said post-game after their Game 3 victory.
Despite vowing not to relax, he added that the Philippine squad looks to make the most of what it has.
"We just prepared for things we can control like our mechanics and teamwork," Herrero further said.
True enough, it was indeed the case after the Philippines drubbed Indonesia anew in Game 4, 79-44, to zero in on a sweep of the event.
The Philippines can complete the shutout in Game 5 on Sunday night.
