MANILA--James De Los Santos just set a new personal best in his e-kata career and won his fourth gold medal for the year in the Katana Intercontinental League #1.
De Los Santos, the world number one e-kata player right now, tallied a 26.64 in the final, beating world number two Matias Domont of Switzerland, which got 25.06.
"This is the highest I've ever scored in a virtual tournament," De Los Santos told Andrei Felix in an interview on CNN Philippines on Monday, where he first announced the result.
De Los Santos' previous e-kata personal best was a 26.1 last year right in the same tournament.
He first topped a three-man semifinal with a 24.72 against the 23.4 from American Alfredo Bustamante and a 22.16 from England's David Brierly.
This is his third gold in a span of five days having confirmed as well his golds from the Inner Strength International E-Tournament and the E-Karate World Series Edition 1 last week.
However, according to De Los Santos, the job is not yet done.
"There are a lot of tournaments this year. I've actually already plan to register on all of them especially that they will add points to the e-kata world rankings," he further said.
