Kevin Alas steals show from Jonathon Simmons as NLEX blasts Blackwater

MUNTINLUPA—Jonathon Simmons got to play for NLEX after all.

However, Kevin Alas stole the show in the fourth quarter.

Alas took over in the final 12 minutes as the Road Warriors deposed the Blackwater Bossing, 124-102, to open their PBA Governors' Cup campaign on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Alas exploded for 19 points in the final frame to help NLEX pull away from Blackwater.

Simmons, who was only cleared to play earlier Wednesday, impressed in his PBA debut, leading the Road Warriors with 32 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.

Alas finished with a career-high 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting, eight rebounds, and four assists off the bench. His 19-point blast in the fourth period is also a career-high for any quarter.

Brandon Rosser chipped in 21 points, five rebounds, three assists, three blocks, and two steals.

Shawn Glover led the Bossing with 26 points, five rebounds, seven assists, one steal, and four blocks, while Ato Ular added 14 points, 11 rebounds, and one assist.
