QUEZON CITY—Team Liquid Philippines began a busy Week 5 of MPL Philippines Season 18 on a winning note by beating TNC 2-1 on Friday night at the Victoria Sports Tower.
Needing to play on three consecutive nights to get enough time to prepare for the Asian Games, Liquid PH found itself on the verge of being stunned by TNC after dropping Game 2 and facing a 6-11 kill deficit and a 2,600-gold disadvantage in Game 3.
However, Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno and Dave "Teddy" Viaña scored crucial kills to neutralize TNC's push at the bottom lane.
In the next Lord fight, Justine "Zaida" Palma scored a kill on Sanford Vinuya, giving him more space to secure the Lord.
However, Liquid PH successfully defended its base again as Nepomuceno snapped Ervin "Vinnn" Franco's killing spree streak using Cecilion and Viaña scoring a double kill.
Sensing blood, Liquid PH went for the jugular in the middle lane and completed the endable push just in time before TNC could be back at full strength.
Liquid PH reclaimed solo first place with a 7-1 record, while TNC dropped to 3-5.
