MANILA--A new chapter in Manu Inigo's coaching career has begun as he has been officially named University of Santo Tomas' head coach for its high school team.

Inigo met with UST athletic director Rodel Cansancio on Wednesday as the latter formally welcomed the new Tiger Cubs mentor.

"Thank you Rev. Fr. Rodel Cansancio, OP, the athletic director of the Institute of Physical Education and Athletics and Boss Bhong Baribar from the office of Congressman Claude Bautista and Dumper Party-List, Davao, and Cocolife," Inigo expressed his gratitude in a simple statement.

Inigo and his coaching staff were unceremoniously removed from San Beda-Taytay prior to the start of the NCAA season, but right after UST's campaign in the UAAP ended last week, they found a new home in Espana.

Jinino Manansala, the incumbent Tiger Cubs head coach, will be relinquishing his role to Inigo after their stint in the NBTC National Finals, but he has been kept in the coaching staff.

Noli Mejos has been named the first assistant coach, while completing the coaching staff are Andy Mejos, VL Sandalo, Onelle Balinton, Robert Dela Rosa, Ronald Magtulis, and JR Carlos.

Former Growling Tiger Richie Melencio has been named the Tiger Cubs' scouting consultant.

"It was never easy, but I have always believed in God's plan. I am grateful that I am given the opportunity to share my gift and knowledge to al the passionate athletes," Inigo continued.

He then implied that the transition has just begun for UST as it looks to pick up from its fourth-place finish this season, which is nearing its conclusion, and hopefully go all the way to the title.

"This is just the beginning of a new chapter--a greater one. Indeed, God's chosen path," Inigo further said.

While waiting for the new UAAP high school basketball season to start, Inigo will focus on his other role as Iloilo's head coach for the MPBL.
