Stephan Schrock - led 'Copa' club renamed as CF Manila

By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA—With two days before the start of the Copa Paulino Alcantara, one of the participating guest clubs made a change in identity.

The team formerly known as Inter Manila now goes by the name Club De Futbol Manila as announced by the PFL on Thursday.

The league said that CF Manila requested for the name change, apparently after the team was called out for its identity.

Earlier this month, another team named "Inter Manila" said in a statement "that we are not joining the Paulino Alcantara PFF tournament" and alleged someone for "using our name without authorization," apparently alluding to the other Inter Manila side.

The original Inter Manila team once played in the WFL prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stephan Schrock operates the newly-renamed CF Manila, bringing in key standouts from his Azkals Development Academy as its core.

CF Manila begins its campaign against returning Loyola on Sunday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
