MANILA--Despite getting better numbers from Tre Robinson in the past two games, Magnolia brought back Shabazz Muhammad to the PBA ahead of their second-round meeting against Meralco on Saturday night.
Looking for more offensive firepower, the Hotshots exchanged the high-flying Robinson for streaky scorer Muhammad, who last played PBA-wise for the San Miguel Beermen during the 2022 Governors' Cup.
Muhammad became popular after scorching hot for 57 points, the most points by any player scored since 2016, to rally SMB back from 26 down to beat Meralco.
Interestingly, his PBA comeback will happen against the Bolts in the last non-Mega Manila game for the 2024 Governors' Cup at the Panabo Multi-Purpose Tourism, Sports, and Cultural Center.
As a backup measure, Robinson, who had 25 points against NorthPort on Wednesday, was placed in Magnolia's injured reserve list.
With the Bolts also on a winning streak to tie the TNT Tropang Giga on top of the Group A standings after the first round of the eliminations, either the Bolts or the Hotshots would have to say goodbye to their winning runs at the start of the second round.
